Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and India secure spots

Muscat: Egypt and Saudi Arabia advanced into finals of World Tent Pegging Championships which will be held in South Africa in August. Both countries progression to the world-class event came after they secured the top two places in the qualifier that took place in Egypt capital city Cairo under organisation and supervision of International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF).


The hosts of the qualifiers Egypt managed to earn the first place in the teams category competitions while Gulf country Saudi Arabia finished in second place. UAE came in third position. In the singles competitions, the Egyptian riders proved their top show as they owned all the top three places.


Sudan was the hosts for the group four qualifiers which featured Canada, South Africa, India and Norway. The competitions in the qualifiers was very tight among all the participating teams. Sudan and India secured spots in the world finals while South Africa confirmed their presence as they are the hosts of the event.


Sudan riders delivered solid performance and managed to earn the top points and placed in the top place of the teams category competitions. South Africa came in second position while India were placed third.


Pakistan will the host the forthcoming qualifiers of the second group which will witness participation of the Libya, Iran, Syria, Russia and Belarus teams.


The forthcoming qualifiers of the first group will take place in Muscat in March. The qualifiers of first group will comprise of participation of the Kuwait, Yemen, Germany, Iraq and USA teams. Oman team riders will look to qualify for the world championship by targeting top places. The World ITPF Championships was supposed to take place in 2021 but postponed due to the pandemic.
