“Muscat Nights is the latest version of the Muscat Festival which combines the efforts of all active official, private, and even the popular sectors in the country. This festival reflects the magical beauty of the Sultanate, the depth of its history and heritage, the urban development witnessed by the country while preserving its cultural heritage, customs and the authentic Arab traditions of the Omani people,” Ahmed al Humaidi, Chairman of the Muscat Municipality and the Head of the Festival Committee, told the Observer.

Organised in association with the Royal Oman Police (ROP), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the festival also offers the visitors, comprising people from across the world, a variety of cultural, artistic and traditional events and activities. It will be held at four venues, namely, Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Al Naseem Park, Oman Automobile Association and Qurum Natural Park which is the largest heritage village where one can see and get to know traditional and artistic Omani life.

There will be laser and drone shows at stipulated timings at different venues and will keep shifting every day so as to attract visitors to all venues and measures are on to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Each venue has authentic socio-cultural activities besides food and other entertainment activities every day from 4 to 10 pm till February 4, 2023 while on weekends there will be extended timings. Muscat Nights is an excellent opportunity for shopping and sightseeing as it showcases an array of traditional industries from around the world.

“A festival like ‘Muscat Nights’ has a great role in reviving the economy, travel and tourism and creating a space for entertainment and cultural communication, especially in the post-Covid era. Muscat Nights 2023 will be a launching pad for the activities included in the Muscat Municipality's work agenda during the current year and we are hopeful that the 17 nights would live up to the aspirations of society in all its categories,” Al Humaidi added. -- ONA
