Oman at ‘Voice of the South’ summit meeting

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the Voice of the South summit meeting hosted by India via videoconference on Thursday, with the participation of the foreign ministers of a number of brotherly and friendly countries, within the framework of India’s presidency of the G20 and inviting the Sultanate of Oman as a guest of honour this year.


Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, in his speech stressed the importance of international cooperation with regard to the concept of social justice in order to ensure the well-being of all, and by exchanging views on best practices on important issues such as food and water security, development cooperation, and giving priority to the needs of the most vulnerable groups in communities.


Sayyid Badr also highlighted the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman in developing a comprehensive social protection system in line with Oman Vision 2040 and its national priorities.


India hosted a two-day Voice of the South summit on January 12-13, 2023. The Summit was held in virtual format, with 10 sessions in total. It saw the participation of leaders and ministers from 125 countries of the Global South.


India convened this one-of-a-kind summit to focus international attention on the priorities, perspectives and concerns of the developing world.
