MUSCAT: Omani racer Abdullah al Zubair will return to rally action by taking part in the Oman International Rally 2023 from January 26 to 28.

Once again, Abdullah will be back behind Subaru Impreza wheel this year for the Oman International Rally, which will be the opening round of the Middle East Rally Championship (Merc).

The Omani driver will join a competitive field from Middle East and elsewhere in his home circuit.

The rally will be conducted from January 26 to 28 in Muscat Governorate and will be organised by the Oman Automobile Association.

Al Zubair, who has not participated any activity in motor sport since he won the second place in Jordan

National Rally in March 2020 with his Navigator Emad Juma, has stated that he was happy to join the local and international drivers in this top event.

Al Zubair said: “I am delighted and very happy in fact to be behind steering wheel of car race again. It is great to return back to my favourite sport. It has been more than three years since I attended the last rally in Jordan. I would like to thank and appreciate the great support and the sponsorship of ARA Petroleum for my participation in the Oman International Rally and hope that I can do well in this three-day race and wish everyone safe driving and successful results."

"The Oman International Rally is always known as the most difficult rally in the Middle East. Therefore, it is not easy to compete with some famous drivers who are always in this field every season, but I will try my best and hope to reach to the final stage and get good result," he added.

He wished the event success with good participation of drivers.
