MUSCAT: The Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), represented by the Family Counselling and Counselling Department, organised on Monday a workshop on "Strategies to reduce and prevent bullying" for psychologists and social workers working at the MoSD to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes to limit and prevent bullying among students.
Dr Jalal bin Youssef al Mukhaini, Director of the Family Counselling and Counselling Department at the Ministry of Social Development, presented three working papers on 'The Concept of Bullying, Its Forms and Effects', 'School Environment and Bullying', and 'Strategies for Reducing and Preventing the Phenomenon of School Bullying'.
Dr Jalal reviewed the "Institutional Alliance", which is intended to mobilise the school and society for the cause of improving students' learning, which is part of the job of every educator.
He also reviewed a number of recent studies and their results, the extent of the problem locally and globally, strategies and policy to reduce the phenomenon of bullying, as well as international programmes to prevent bullying. - ONA
