Funded by sons of Suhail Salim Bahwan, an initiative called ‘ Ibsar’ will help 1,000 patients to undergo eye treatment at various private hospitals in the Sultanate of Oman, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Dr Hilal Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, and the sons of Shaikh Bahwan (Omar, Othman, Ali, and their sisters), signed the cooperation agreement.

According to MoH, the initiative targets eye patients on waiting lists as per the seniority of the appointment, and those in urgent need to perform the operation.

Scheduled to be effective from January 2023, the initiative will cover all costs the operations require starting from the medical care, and medicines to the postoperative reviews.

In an online statement, the ministry expressed its thanks for the unlimited support provided by the sons of Sheikh Suhail Bahwan, praising their constant cooperation.

The signing of the programme reflects the importance of community solidarity, bearing into account that health is everyone's responsibility.

Meanwhile, the ministry has already started reducing the waiting lists for some services, including x-rays and outpatients’ appointments.
