Al Nahdha defeat Sur; Al Bashaer stun Al Musannah

Muscat: Al Nahdha remained in the top of the league order as they defeated Sur 2-0 in the 13th week of 2022/23 Omantel league on Tuesday.


At Al Buraimi Sports Complex, Hamed al Azani’s men raised their tally to 29 points. The triumph meant, Al Buraimi representative registered their 13th victory in the top domestic league and ended in the top place by winter season.


Abubaker Demba Kamara was the star of the match as he netted both of the goals and delivered three crucial points for his team to secure the top place in the league. On the other hand, Sur suffered their seventh defeat in the league and freezed to their existing credit at 16 points.


Oman club was held to a goalless draw by Al Oruba at Sur sports Complex on Tuesday. The draw did not serve both teams as they were looking for a win to jump in the league order specially Al Oruba who are positioned in the relegation zone. With the draw, Oman club added one point to their kitty to reach 18 points while Al Oruba’s credit is in the 14th place with six points.


Al Bashaer edged Al Musannah 2-0 at Nizwa Sports Complex. The win helped Al Bashaer to leave the last place in the league to Al Oruba as they moved to 12th position temporarily. Hosni Mubarak and Ammar al Habsi scored the goals of Al Bashaer.


In today’s matches, Suhar will take on Al Suwaiq at their home in Sohar Sports Complex. The win for the visitors will mean 26 points and getting much closer to the top teams. Al Suwaiq managed to beat Bahla in the previous round 2-0 and the win will encourage them to eye for the third consecutive win. Suhar will get the support from fans to compensate from their last defeat in the previous week as they suffered a 1-0 loss against Oman club in Seeb Stadium.


Al Rustaq will aim to register their eighth triumph in the league as they will meet defending champion Seeb. The venue Seeb Stadium will host the tight encounter and Al Rustaq players will look to clinch the winning points as they performed against Al Basaher in the 12th week. Coach Rasheed Jaber’s men will chase for three points and prevent dropping of points as they were held to a goalless draw against Al Nasr in the previous round at Al Saada Stadium.
