'Naseya', 'Shuaa' snatch titles of Al Bairaq camel fest

'Naseya', owned by Badr bin Hamad al Junaibi, won the festival title of the camel race for 'Fatameen' category for one year old, and 'Shuaa', owned by Khalid bin Obaid al Balushi, won the beginners’ title in the concluding activities of the third edition of Al Bairaq festival for camel racing.


The event is sponsored by Azwa Company for Technology and Public Services, which is owned by Muhanna bin Mohammed al Fazari, and held under the auspices of Shaikh Waleed bin Suleiman al Rajhi.


As many as 200 camels took part in the Al Bairaq festival for 'Fatameen' category, which is for one year old male and female camels. There were six races for 1,200 metres and eight races for 1,500 metres at the Al Dhraa camel track in the Wilayat of Sinaw on Friday.



In the main 1,500-metre-long race for camels which are not taking part for the first time, 'Naseya', owned by Badr bin Hamad al Junaibi, took the top honours after finishing in two minutes and 7 seconds, 'Monther', owned by Ghasib bin Ali al Fazari, claimed the second race, Salim bin Nasser al Junaibi through 'Ghazal' came first in the third race, Mahmood bin Said al Jahhafi through 'Hamloul' bagged the fifth race honours, 'Farah', owned by Jabir bin Obaid al Junaibi, finished on top in the sixth race and Salim bin Mohammed al Hakama through 'Shaheen' came top in the seventh race.


In the beginner competitions for 1,200 metres, 'Shuaa', owned by Khalid bin Obaid al Balushi, finished the race in one minute and 42 seconds to clinch the title, the honours of the second and third races were snatched by 'Musafer' and 'Ghazr' both owned by Abdullah bin Al Saghir al Fazari, the fourth race was won by Hamoud bin Mohammed al Balushi through 'Mahawesh', in the fifth race, 'Wazen', owned by Ghasib bin Ali al Fazari, came first, 'Al Muhandes', owned by Hamad bin Salim al Ghafili, grabbed the sixth race honours, 'Hedoor', owned by Hamoud bin Ali al Zari, claimed the seventh race title, and the eighth and last race was won by Ghasib bin Ali al Fazari.
