Fisheries Development Oman (FDO), the fisheries investment subsidiary of Oman Investment Authority (OIA), took part in the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) annual conference and exhibition, which concluded in Singapore earlier this week. Organised by Singapore Food Agency (SFA), the event showcased opportunities in the blue economy industrial sector.

Through its participation, FDO aimed to introduce the fisheries in the Sultanate of Oman and their competitive advantage in the international markets and the encouragement of investments in associated industries.

The Singapore event provided an appropriate venue for exchanging international experience and experiments and getting updated with the most important scientific developments and the latest technologies. The conference brings together international institutions and organizations specialized in fisheries under one roof to discuss challenges and solutions to the international issues of the aquaculture industries.

On the sidelines of the conference, a number of workshops and seminars hosted experts and scientists from all over the world, covering all aquaculture topics including dryland aquaculture, environment, biodiversity, climate change as well as aquaculture technology and discuss aquaculture sustainable development and other issues related to sustainable development and blue economy.
