The President of the Oman Equestrian Federation said traditional equestrian festivals aim to introduce tourists to the authentic Omani heritage, where competition and participation take place according to the standards set by the Federation. It is also an incentive to local clubs and jockeys to maintain the tradition of riding and other skills.

Over 100 horses took part in the Ardha run. Other events included tent pegging with sword and spear, in addition to showcasing the skills of the riders on their horses. The riders carried the flags of the Sultanate Oman and pictures of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik amid the chanting of folk songs and recitation of poems.
