MUSCAT: A reception and dinner were organised by the Oman Equestrian Association (OEA) for the teams from the government cavalry units and the wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman who participated in the two-day championship, at the newly-opened Tulip Inn Majan Hotel in Salalah. Sayyid Munthir bin Said al Busaidy, Chairman of Oman Equestrian Association(OEA) was welcomed by Mark Abboud, General Manager of Tulip Inn Majan Hotel Ahmed al Abri, Secretary-General of OEA.


Ten teams from the government cavalry units and the wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman took part in the two-day championship with a total of 40 horse riders from the Royal Cavalry(two teams), Police Cavalry Headquarters, Royal Guard of Oman’s cavalry, Al Namir School, S3 Stables, Al Mudhaibi Equestrian Committee, Sohar Stables and Dhofar Equestrian Committee. The activities of the Equestrian Week in Dhofar concluded on Wednesday,under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohsin al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality.The grand finale of the event also showcased performance of traditional horse sports by skilled champions. A number of horse-related activities and events, including the endurance race and the peg-picking championship were held as part of the Oman Equestrian Week organised by the Oman Equestrian Federation in the Governorate of Dhofar.


The peg-picking championship which began on August 2 featured ten teams from the government Calvary Units and the Wilayats of the Sultanate with a total of 40 horse riders competing in this championship.
