Muscat: The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has launched the request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the design, construction, finance, operation, and maintenance of the Salalah- Thumrait Truck Road under Public Private Partnership Agreements.

An additional expressway will be added to the existing Salalah-Thumrait road. The trucks will be obliged to use this expressway with payment of a crossing fee, the public can also use the expressway.

‘As part of Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects and in order to encourage the private sector to invest in infrastructure projects and public services, the Ministry of Finance (MOF), in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), seeks to engage the private sector in Salalah - Thumrait Truck Road (STTR) development project

under PPP agreement. The STTR is a 67-km road, the first of its kind in Oman, specifically designed for heavy vehicles in coordination with the Ministry of Transport."

Interested local and international companies can obtain the EO! document by sending an email to ppp.roads.sttr@mof-gov.om.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) earlier finalized projects to be implemented under Public-Private-Partnership (PPP).

“These projects will be implemented under PPP and consistent with Oman Vision 2040 and its relevant strategic plans. The implementation of selected projects under PPP will help reduce the construction cost or operating expenses and it will not create any additional burden on the budget.”
