Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Secretariat General of the Tender Board announced tender for the design, execution and completion of the First Phase of Al Batinah Coastal Road—a stretch of 21 kilometres—from the Wilayat of Barka to Al Suwaiq Port.

The project, a strategic component of the ministry’s strategic plan, comprises two the construction of dual links leading to the centres of the two wilayats (Barka, Al Suwaiq), a flyover for Al Suwaiq roundabout and a set of roundabouts, junctions, intersections and exits connecting the adjoining villages and residential complexes.

Once completed, the first phase of Al Batinah Coast Road will maximize benefits from the logistic scheme of the area and provide various opportunities for economic development and tourism. It will also bolster commercial activity at the ports of Barka and Al Suwaiq, since it collects the centres of the two wilayats with the two hubs. As part of the project, two-way roads will be constructed along Al Batinah Expressway and connect the economic zone of Khazaen and the overall national road grid.
