Oman Metrology’s aerial pictures indicated the continued cloud activity and flow of clouds over parts of the governorates of Musandam, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah with sporadic rain and thundershowers due to the southwestern winter trough approaching from Europe to the Arabian Peninsula.

Although rains were expected on Monday, the showers reached Shinas by Sunday.

The Met Office has also alerted on low clouds and fog during late night and early morning on Monday over parts of North and South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah and parts of the coast of the Sea of Oman.

The weather forecaster at Met office said, “The impact of the winter trough is expected over Al Hajar Mountains, Al Dakhiliyah and coastal areas of Muscat. There are chances for rain in Muscat on Tuesday.”

He added that there is a slight chance for the trough to last till Wednesday, while the temperature could drop one to two degrees once the trough passes through.
