Information Minister receives European journalists, media persons

Muscat: Dr Abdullah Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information, received here on Monday a number of journalists and media persons representing news agencies, TV channels and newspapers from the European Union.


Welcoming the guests, the Minister of Information outlined the role of Oman’s media institutions and the message of balance and rationality that they disseminate. He spoke about Omani media’s objectiveness when dealing with different domestic and international events and issues.


The meeting covered various economic aspects, notably the encouraging investment climate in Oman, including entrepreneurship-friendly laws and incentives, ports, airports, free zones, logistic hubs and tourism facilities, backed by natural resources and modern establishments.


Dr Abdullah said that commercial exchange forms an integral part of Oman’s history. He underscored the role of commercial exchange in propagating Oman’s culture in Africa and Asia.

The meeting also touched on the status accorded to Omani women and empowering factors, including a set of comprehensive rights and the designation of an annual day for women to celebrate their accomplishments at all levels.


The EU media team, hosted by the Ministry of Information, will meet a number of Omani officials and visit key economic projects and tourism landmarks.
