

Muscat: The 10th GCC Programming Competition was launched at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) on Tuesday.
The competition, contested by 150 students from 28 GCC colleges and universities, stems from a two-day event codenamed “National Initiative for Promoting Digital Competencies”.
Organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with the SQU, Omantel and Specialized Programming Academy, the competition seeks to discover and develop talents in the field of programming and logical virtual thinking used as tools for troubleshooting and algorithm design within the context of the 4IR techniques.
The participants are put in 49 teams—29 of them from Oman, 9 from Saudi Arabia, 3 from Kuwait and 8 from the United Arab Emirates.
The competition is an independent regional event coached by university professors from member states.
