National Strategy for Statistics, Information reviewed

Muscat: The Permanent Committee for Statistics on Monday held a meeting during which it discussed a draft version of the National Strategy for Statistics and Information.


The panel’s second meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr Khalifa Abdullah al Barwani, CEO of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), and attended by representatives of different government departments.


The meeting also looked into the goals and programmes of the National Strategy for Statistics and Information.


The Permanent Committee for Statistics is tasked with coordinating statistics-related programmes and activities and determining their priorities in accordance with the actual needs of government departments. The panel follows up the implementation of annual programmes and projects of relevance.


The committee unifies concepts, definitions, classifications, measures and methodologies used in the field of statistics. It also encourages studies and research on statistics.
