Rustaq pool to shape national swimmers for future assignments

Muscat: The national swimming team began closed domestic camp at Al Rustaq Sports Complex for the forthcoming assignments. The underway preparatory gathering at South Al Batinah Governorate is part of Oman Swimming Association’s future plan towards “Road to Paris 2024” programme.


Omani swimmers will take part in many Arabian, Asian and international events including Arabian Swimming Championship which will be held in Algeria in the following month. Islamic Solidarity Games will be the following assignment for the team and it will take place during August. The swimming team will participate at Open Water Championship in Tashkent in Uzbekistan in September.


Oman’s head coach team, Mohammed Moez al Khairi, opted 14 swimmers for the camp namely: Ayman al Qasmi, Mohannad Awlad Thani, Nasser al Kindi, Adam al Raisi, Shihab al Battashi, Hilal al Mashari, Ibrahim al Wahaibi, Ali al Hasani, Mashal al Kulaibi, Hamed al Hasani, Khalil al Hasani, Moadh al Shibani, Mohammed al Wahaibi and Shihab al Battashi. The warm-up camp will feature comprehensive training sessions under watchful eyes of the coach Mohammed Moez al Khairi and his assistant Ayman al Kulaibi. The Rustaq camp will witness several training sessions during morning and evening timing including fitness practices and tactical training sessions.


The latest participation for the national swimming team was at GCC Games in Kuwait which ended in May. Five medals was claimed by Oman’s swimmers including two silver and three bronze medals.


The silver medal was captured by Olympic swimmer Issa al Adawi in Men’s 800 and 400 Freestyle category. The youngster swimmer Issa al Adawi bagged another bronze medal in Men’s 200 Freestyle besides two more bronze medals in 4X100 freestyle relay and 4X200 freestyle relay.


Oman’s talented swimmer Nasser al Kindi took part at the FINA World Swimming Championship in Budapest city which ended recently.
