Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman witnessed a partial solar eclipse on Tuesday. According to falakoman or Oman Astronomical Society, the partial eclipse started at 2:49 pm in Muscat Governorate, peaked at 3:57 pm and ended at 4:58 pm. The timings for the eclipse were slightly different in other governorates of the Sultanate.

While some citizens and residents took steps to not venture out in the sun during the eclipse, for others it was business as usual, apart from not directly looking at the sun.

Falak had made arrangements for live streaming of the solar eclipse in the afternoon. While in certain parts of Russia and Kazakhstan the visibility was to be 80 per cent, the partial eclipse was also visible in most parts of Europe, northern Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia. The solar eclipse was a partial one, visible over India, except for a large area of the north-eastern states.

The Oman Astronomical Society had urged observers to use welding helmets, solar telescopes and binoculars, and solar eclipse.
