MOH issues alert on certain oxygen face masks

Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has issued a safety alert on the Oxygen Face Mask from Philips Respironics.


The Ministry of Health said that the following masks - Amara View Minimal Contact Full-Face Mask, Dream Wear Full-Face Mask, Dream Wisp Nasal Mask with over the Nose Cushion, Wisp nasal masks, and Wisp youth nasal masks - contain magnets that affect the devices implanted for patients their household members and caregivers that may be close to patients.


Therefore, patients should stop using the affected mask if the implant medical device is contraindicated against the mask magnets. "


MOH added that patients should consult the physician to determine if another mask can be used for therapy. After an alternative is obtained, dispose of the mask with magnets after contacting the local agent.
