ISTANBUL: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Information, took part in the 12th Conference of the Ministers of Information of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul on Saturday.

Held under the theme ‘Combating Disinformation and Islamophobia in Post-Truth Era’, the conference aims to enhance cooperation between the Islamic countries.

The Sultanate of Oman’s delegation was headed by Mohammed bin Said al Balushi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Information.

The meeting reviewed ways to develop programmes for combating disinformation and Islamophobia and debated the establishment of the OIC media forum.

Speaking at the opening session, Hissein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), said that the conference would discuss the challenges facing the media in the OIC member states and review the media discourse delivered by both the conventional and modern media.

The OIC secretary-general said that the session would discuss a number of issues most notably the Palestinian cause and the attacks on Al Aqsa Mosque and would focus on the member states in the African continent. — ONA
