OJA marks Omani Women's Day in Nizwa

NIZWA: The Oman Journalists Association, represented by the Women Journalists Affairs Committee, organised a ceremony at Al Shahba Castle in Nizwa on Wednesday.


As part of the event, a dialogue session in cooperation with the Omani Women's Association in Nizwa was held on media and community development at the association's premises. It was held under the auspices of Shaikh Hamdan bin Nasser al Rumaidi, a member of the Majlis Ash'shura and representative of Nizwa.


The session began with a speech by Laila Awlad Thani. The dialogue session was moderated by the media person Souad bint Suroor al Balushi. The session was attended by Jokha bint Mohammed al Farsi, a volunteer in community service; Basma bint Matar Kamuna, Director of Content at the Ministry of Information; Dr Mahfuzah bint Rashid al Mushaifri, Assistant Professor at University of Nizwa; and Ghasiya bint Suleiman al Amri, a community contributor from Birkat Al Mouz.


The ceremony continued in the evening at Al Shahba Castle in the Wilayat of Nizwa. It included several accompanying activities and events under the auspices of Dr Badriya bint Ibrahim al Shehhi, Vice-President of the State Council.

The ceremony included a speech by Zainab bint Khamis al Zadjali, head of the Journalists' Affairs Committee of the Oman Journalists Association.


Then a dialogue session entitled 'Women's Media is a Renewed Renaissance' was held. The media person, Souad bint Suroor al Balushi moderated it. Dr Hanan bint Abdul Aziz al Kindi, media consultant; Zainab bint Abdullah al Zadjali, the first woman journalist in Dhofar; and Thoraya bint Mohammad al Jabri of the Ministry of Economy, participated in the session.


On the sidelines of the ceremony, an exhibition of handicrafts and Omani food was held.


In the coming days, a visit to the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Nizwa will be organised to meet students and faculty. During this, the journalists will talk about their experiences.


A visit to the Al Bustan Inn will also be held to learn about the experiences and projects of young Omani people, including the tourist vehicles and hostel projects.


The Sultanate of Oman celebrates October 17 as Omani Women's Day to mark the achievements of Omani women in various fields.
