

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Social Development held a celebration to mark the Omani Women’s Day under the auspices of Her Excellency Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, on Monday.
Thirty outstanding women were honoured during the event. The honourees included researchers, business women, rural women, entrepreneurs, owners of small and medium enterprises and leading women in the agricultural field.
The winners of Mubadara competition, launched by the Ministry of Social Development in collaboration with Omantel, were announced during the event. The initiative aimed to train and build digital capacities of 60 members of the Omani Women Association from across the country. The participants received training on e-marketing tools of Google and Meta technologies to help them out with their home projects.
The event also witnessed the launch of Rifi (Arabic for rural) platform which is dedicated to the promotion and marketing of products produced by rural women, female entrepreneurs and leading women in the sectors of agriculture, fisheries, craft industries and related sectors. The Rifi platform is an integral part of the Rifi programme which was launched by the Honourable Lady, Spouse of His Majesty the Sultan, on November 7, 2021.
Rifi platform, the first of its kind in the Middle East, displays various products in a seamless manner targeting local and international consumers as well as retail and wholesale traders.
The platform, aiming to be placed among the best in the Middle East and North Africa region focuses on the marketing and promoting products produced by rural women, crafts women and female entrepreneurs.
