Muscat: The Foreign Ministry asserted that the announcement made by the Australian government to rescind its recognition of West Jerusalem as Capital of Israel backs international endeavours calling for commitment to the International Law and UN resolutions pertaining to the Palestinian Cause.
The decision is a step to achieve just and comprehensive peace, enabling the brotherly Palestinian people to obtain all their legitimate rights and establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its Capital, in accordance with the two-state solution, international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
