MUSCAT: To mark Omani Women’s Day this year, the British Embassy in Muscat launched an ‘Ambassador for the Day’ initiative. British Embassy invited young Omani women interested in diplomacy, policy development and a career in foreign affairs to partake in activities including a Young Leaders Workshop and a Women Leaders Lunch event.

The embassy day of activities sought to support these young women in their future careers, expand their circle of influence and develop their leadership, diplomacy and negotiation skills. Shortlisted finalists had the opportunity to meet with special dignitaries including the Minister of Social Development and a group of female ambassadors from the US, France, Italy, Kenya and Turkey.

The British Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Bill Murray, was delighted to be part of this initiative. He said: “I was deeply impressed by the ambition, talent and skills of the young Omani women I met today. Careers in diplomacy and international affairs can be incredibly rewarding, and I am pleased that the British Embassy in Muscat has helped our Ambassadors for the Day get an insight into this exciting career path.”
