Zulal Student Company from the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Muscat has created an ecologically friendly filter that revitalises water instead of imported filters that remove a major percentage of the salts required by the human body.
“What makes Zulal special is that it is the first Omani company in the field of creating 100 per cent natural water filters that revitalise water,” explains CEO Samia al Riyami.
The team’s journey spanned 12 months, beginning with the idea, two months of planning and ending with implemention.
The project is significant because of the Sultanate of Oman’s waste of natural resources, and it will result in a qualitative jump in the Omani market.
“the team worked on the product alongside the Luna Star Laboratory, Anotek, Sultan Qaboos University, Salem al Shaqsi Pottery Factory, and Al Adawi Factory”, she explained.
It is worth noting that this 12-person team got the award of Best Sustainable Product for 2022 at the university and college level.
The team was also nominated for three categories in the “Injaz Oman” competition, including “Best Visual Presentation” and “Best Student Company.”
