Muscat, Oct 3

Oman’s representative Seeb will take on Bahrain’s Al Riffa in the AFC West Zone final at the Seeb Stadium on Tuesday. The summit clash kicks-off at 7 pm.

The Muscat based team is behind one step only to create history and to lift the prestigious trophy while Bahraini team will aim to recall the memories of 2021 as their neighbours Muharraq club won the 2021 AFC Cup. HH Sayyid Malik bin Shihab al Said, vice-president of Seeb club, will preside over the final match in presence of the Oman Football Association (OFA) officials and dignitaries.

Speaking on the eve of the match, Rasheed Jaber, newly appointed head coach of Seeb club said, “ All the team players are in full readiness to play this crucial game and there are no injuries in the squad. The preparation plan of the team went smoothly, and we are in good shape to play the awaited encounter. It is expected that the match will be tough for both sides and the opponent has all the success tools,” coach Jaber added in the press meet on Monday.

Seeb will look to end their campaign successfully in West Zone final that will take them to the overall final of AFC Cup 2022 on October 22. Seeb’s heroes are all set for the crucial game as the team squad had trained well for this game and had several training sessions under watchful eyes of experienced national head coach, Rasheed Jaber.

The former Dhofar club coach affirmed that he is fully aware of the players' performances and levels.

“I know the technical levels of all the players and the squad is well aware of my coaching style. I was willing to spend more time with the players but anyhow we have to be adapted with the current situation. We will work hard to spread the joy among the fans of Seeb and Oman. The spectators will be a key factor for the team to register a victory. We will look forward for attendance of the fans and their support,” he ended.

Seeb defender, Mohammed al Musallami, said that the team players are in good condition to take on Bahrain’s Al Riffa. “ The match is considered as historic game for us and will do our level best to register positive result. The accomplishment will be registered under Oman's name and not only Seeb club. The result of today’s game will not impact on Seeb’s long-term plans, and we will deliver all our efforts towards achieving good result. Since the first game in the AFC Cup campaign, our target was clear to accomplish a historic achievement after a successful domestic 2021-22 season. We have full confidence on our head coach and looking forward for a top match,” he concluded.

Seeb’s campaign in the AFC cup was not easy as they began with a victory over Syria’s Jableh SC 1-0 in the opener before recovering from the setback of losing 2-1 to three-time AFC Cup champions Kuwait SC to bounce back in style with a 4-0 defeat of Lebanon’s Al Ansar to seal the top spot in Group A. Then, they emerged 2-1 winners against Kuwait’s Al Arabi after 120 minutes in the semifinal.
