Oman-Norway Business Forum reviews trade and investment ties

The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) hosted at its headquarters on September 20, 2022, the Omani-Norwegian Business Forum with the attendance of representatives of a number of Omani businesses and their counterparts from the Kingdom of Norway.


The forum aimed to discuss ways to enhance trade and investment relations between the two friendly countries, and work to establish commercial partnerships between business owners in both countries, in addition to working to increase the volume of trade exchange rates in general, and focusing on the oil and gas sectors, and energy solutions in particular.


The forum featured a number of presentations showcasing the various opportunities and capabilities of the two friendly countries. According to the Chamber, bilateral trade between the two countries climbed to RO 5.642 million in 2021, up from RO 3 million a year earlier.


At the forum, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion provided an overview of the ‘Invest in Oman’ portal, while the Public Authority for the Special Economic Zone and Free Zones (OPAZ) outlined investment opportunities in the country’s special economic and free zones.


Norwegian officials also highlighted the important opportunities and incentives offered by the Kingdom of Norway in various investment fields.


On the sidelines of the forum, bilateral meetings were held between Omani business owners and their counterparts from the Kingdom of Norway with the aim of exchanging experiences and identifying investment opportunities between the two countries.
