Mudhaibi emerge champions of first Musannah tent pegging

Muscat: The Wilayat of Mudhaibi were ranked first at teams and individual category in the first edition of Musannah Tent Pegging Championship 2022, which was organised by the Equestrian Committee in Musannah in cooperation with the Oman International Academy of tent pegging and under the supervision of the Oman Equestrian Federation (OEF).


The event was held at Barcelo Resort Musannah under the patronage of Sayyid Khalid bin Mahfouz al Busaidy, in the presence of Ahmed bin Saif al Abri, Secretary-General of the OEF, Ali bin Saleh al Shabibi, Chairman of the Equestrian Committee in Musannah, and equestrian enthusiasts. The championship comes under the main sponsorship of Oman Liquefied Natural Gas Company.


The tournament witnessed strong competition among the participants of 32 contestants representing eight teams from the Oman’s governorates, Musannah, Al Suwaiq, Suhar, Saham, Al Khabourah, Mudhaibi, Ibra and Bahla. They competed in six rounds, which are a single spear round, a sword singles round, two rings and a wedge with a spear, two lemons and a wedge with a sword, teams tour with a spear and teams tour with a sword.



Mudhaibi team won the first three places at the individual category, where Badr bin Mahammed al Khasibi came in the first place with 55 points, Sami bin Ali al Haddadi claimed the second place with 52 points and Khalid bin Salem al Habsi came third with 51 points.


In the team section, Mudhaibi claimed the title with Saif bin Ali al Jabri, Badr bin Mohammed al Khaseibi, Sami bin Ali al Haddadi and Khalid bin Salem al Habsi collecting 195 points.


The Al Leem Equestrian Centre team from Al Suwaiq came in second place. Riders Amjad Iqbal, Suleiman bin Abdullah al Balushi, Musa bin Salem al Maawali and Hussein al Hasani claimed 169.5 points.


The Musannah State team, represented by Khalfan bin Khamis al Rawahi, Nasser bin Saif al Hashimi, Hamad bin Saeed al Manouri and Anas bin Ali al Balushi came third with 156 points.
