Electricity restored in most parts of Muscat

Muscat: Following the major power outage that was reported in various parts of Muscat and other governorates, the electricity has been partially restored in parts of Muscat, including Mawelah, Ghala, Al Misfat, Ghala Heights, Madinat Sultan Qaboos, Al Dakhliah: Nizwa (100%) Adam, Izki, Parts of Bahla. South Al Batinah: Nakhl (100%) Barka (100%), parts of Rustaq, North Shaqiyah, Samad al Shan (100%), Sinaw (100%), parts of Mabela, Sur al Hadid, Al Khoud, Al Azaiba, Airport Heights, Al Rusayl, North al Sharqiah, Al Mudhaibi, Al Qabil. Al Dakhliyah and Adam, Parts of Wadi al Luami, Wadi Al Bahais, Darsait, Bayt al Falaj, Old Airport, Mutrah and Qurum.


With traffic signals not working in many places, motorists were to exercise caution and drive safely as ROP supervised the traffic movement manually at all important junctions.


"Due to the power outage in parts of the main electricity network in the Sultanate of Oman, the Royal Oman Police is working to secure traffic on roads and intersections that operate with traffic lights to facilitate their flow and organize the safe passage of road users."


"The electricity main interconnected system is facing partial blackout, the restoration of supply is under process by Oman Electricity Transmission Company," the official statement of the Authority for Public Services Regulation said.


Many commercial complexes and offices had to shut down for a few hours till the electricity was restored.


The Emergency Cases Management Center at the Ministry of Health confirmed that health institutions in the governorates affected by the power outage are not affected, and are operating at their normal efficiency due to the presence of backup generators.
