Oman participates in intergovernmental conference on marine biodiversity

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is taking part in the 5th session of the Intergovernmental Conference on an international legally binding instrument under the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Law of the Sea.


The conference, which will run till August 26, 2022, is held at the headquarters of the UN in New York, the United States (US).


The conference discusses a spectrum of topics, particularly the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdictions and marine genetic resources, as well as matters related to the sharing of benefits and measures regarding area-based management tools, among other topics.
