Are you a bookworm?!

It is attributed that the biggest pleasure of reading comes from what we read, not from on what we read. There is a great difference between an eager man who wants to read a book and the tired man who wants a book to read. There are people who regard reading the only thing that makes their day; those are book lovers or in other words, called bookworms. This kind of people always never go to bed alone; rather with a book in hand to read. Perhaps, they keep reading until they fall asleep with the book falling on their chest!

Though life is getting busier more and more every single day, book lovers never give up the habit of reading. It is becoming an essential part of their day-to-day activities; reading marks another life for them! In fact, books are regarded the best friend ever over years, so one has to ask himself whether he is a friend of books or not? Probably this question provokes one to ask how much he/she reads in a day, a week, a month, a year or even a decade! Is he/she reading enough as one grows up?

Reading is a good habit which many people are unfortunately not used to, especially nowadays while everyone is busy with the social media and technology. I am afraid that reading might be ignored and excluded from one’s list of daily, weekly or monthly things-to-do. If it really happens, then reading, as a habit or a culture, could be given a cold shoulder if not totally forgotten. This might be the case with probably those who are not fans of reading. However, the case is of course different for book lovers.

However, it all works with the interest and passion, if we have it then one will always have the time to read. Having the interest to read should not be linked to how much one has to read. It has nothing to do with the amount of reading one does everyday, but to keep the habit going on. Though life always keeps us busy, one must have reading on the list of responsibilities and accord it a priority. As food is important for the body, so is reading for the mind and soul. Reading feeds our minds and souls with knowledge, inspiration and good spirit.

All you need to do is simply to put away your smartphones, pull out a good book and start reading. Have some time everyday and have this practice as a daily action and eventually it becomes a habit. Instead make it a culture at home where you urge your family and kids to do the same. Let each one of them discover how passionate he/she is about reading. Let reading be unconsciously a habit that they like and enjoy with no pressure put on them. Consequently, reading will become a culture at home, which everybody has adopted.

As bookworms worldwide observed the National Book Lovers Day on August 9, it is a commendable call to everyone to adapt reading as a habit in life. It is a day to encourage the joy and fun of reading with family, friends, colleagues and other book lovers. Besides, it is a perfect time to give a book as a well-chosen gift to friends and family. You could also commemorate the day with a group of friends or reading enthusiasts by reading a book, discussing a novel, sharing an experience or exchanging books.

On the other hand, if it wasn’t for the authors, there would actually be no books! Hence, on the occasion of National Book Lovers Day, one can take a little time to show some tribute and appreciation for a favourite author. If he/she is a living author, then give them applause and send them a thank you note, else pray for the dead authors. Hats on for all authors in the universe.
