Salalah: Dr Ahmed bin Salim al Mandhari, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, praised the Sultanate of Oman's strategy on dealing with various infectious diseases.

In a statement to the Oman News Agency and Sultanate of Oman TV on the sidelines of the second Salalah Conference on Dermatology, Dr Al Mandhari said the cooperation between the private and public health institutions helped in implementing protective measures set by the WHO against the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said there is clear decline in cases after citizens and residents took the vaccines recognised by the World Health Organization, adding: "Everyone should strive to take the vaccines in order to protect lives."

The two-day Salalah Derm II Conference, organised by the Oman Dermatology Association and Al Nahdha Hospital, concluded on Saturday.

The conference discussed various topics including medical ethics in aesthetic dermatology, updates in therapeutics, skin cancers, and topics related to dermatological manifestations of internal diseases.

It also included workshops and specialised symposiums in laser, dermoscopy, stem cell therapy in vitiligo and certain advanced practices.

The papers were presented by a conglomerate of distinguished local, GCC and international experts. — ONA
