Oman U-19 team set for Asian Cup Qualifiers

Muscat: Oman national under-19 football team began the second part of the domestic camp in Muscat on Monday in preparation for the AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers in September.


The warm-up gathering of the team was under watchful eyes of the newly appointed head coach for U-19 team, David Mansilla. This is the second camp for the Spanish coach who took charge in February. The first short domestic camp took place during March 30 until April 1.


The initial sessions focused on improving the physical and technical performance of the players. Also, the coaching staff are working to boost the fitness of the players. The camp will conclude on April 15. More internal camps will be followed with possibility of an external camp after the Eid holidays.

Spanish coach David Mansilla and his assistant coaching staff attended the final match of the 2021-22 U-19 league. Nizwa club were crowned the champions of the league after defeating Dhofar 4-3 in penalty shoot-out. The regulation time ended at 1-1 draw on April 1. The head coach of U-19 national team opted five players in the squad from Dhofar while three players from Nizwa.


Jaalan club lifted the shield of the the 2021-22 U-17 league as they beat Al Ittihad 2-1 in the concluding match on March 31.
