SQ Hospital in Dhofar to be ready in 2024

Muscat: The construction work for the new Sultan Qaboos Hospital (SQH) project in the Dhofar Governorate is 33 percent complete and is expected to be ready by the end of 2024.


The structural work has reached 75 percent and the project includes seven floors and 700 beds.


Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, paid a field visit on Tuesday to the new Sultan Qaboos Hospital project in Salalah, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al-Sabti, Minister of Health, to follow up the progress of the construction work of the project.


Engineer Jamal bin Salem al Shanfari, Director General of the General Directorate of Projects and Engineering Affairs at the Ministry of Health, gave a visual presentation in which he talked about various components of the new Sultan Qaboos Hospital project in Salalah, which is being built on an area of ​​222,000 sqm and at a total cost of about RO138 million.


He said the main building of the new hospital will include specialized units for accidents and emergencies, imaging, rehabilitation, and chemotherapy, as well as a dialysis unit, burns, orthotics, and day clinics, in addition to units for pediatric care/care - adult intensive care - stroke care. Intermediate care - the care of premature babies, as well as the operating rooms, delivery rooms, the special wing, and the VIP suite.


Al Shanfari said the new hospital will contain suites for surgery, children, internal diseases, obstetrics, and gynecology. It will also have an annex building consisting of a lecture hall, a health education and continuing education department, in addition to departments of equipment, medical devices, stores, and pathology laboratories.
