Members of the National Modern and Folkloric Ballet of Guatemala perform the traditional Mayan Q’eqchi’ dance “El Paabanc” at the Miguel Angel Asturias Cultural Centre in Guatemala City. The dance “El Paabanc”, whose tradition is celebrated by the indigenous people of the Q’eqchi’ Mayan ethnic group in the department of Alta Verapaz, in northern Guatemala, was declared as “Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation”, according to a report published by the Sports and Culture Ministry. — AFP
