The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has prevented a number of media and personal accounts from publishing forecasts and warnings during weather conditions that affect the Sultanate of Oman, contrary to what is issued by the Omani Meteorology Meteorology through its social media platforms.

CAA said that it has monitored a number of media and personal accounts publishing forecasts and warnings during weather conditions that affect the Sultanate of Oman, which often lead to confusion among official authorities and individuals, leading to the spread of rumors of transmission of statements that are not true.

"These practices are in violation of the prohibition imposed by the Civil Aviation Law."

CAA indicated that it will not hesitate from taking legal measures or imposing legally stipulated penalties to address these violations, in coordination with the concerned government agencies.

According to Article (30) - chapter six / approvals - Civil Aviation Law states that it is prohibited to engage in aviation activities, air navigation, and meteorological services except with the approval of the competent authority.”

Article (63) - Chapter Thirteen / Penalties - Civil Aviation Law stipulates that anyone who violates the provision of Article (30) shall be punished with imprisonment for a period of no less than one year and not exceeding three, and a fine of no less than RO15,000 and not exceeding RO50,000 or by one of these two penalties.
