Oman Sepak takraw team win third place in Thailand championship

Oman national Sepak takraw team claimed third place at the 2022 Thailand King’s Cup Sepak takraw World Championship which concluded recently in Bangkok. Oman team's accomplishment is registered in teams category (level 2). The event saw a large participation from a number of Asian and European teams. Oman’s player Juma bin Salim al Sinani named as one of the best and youngest talented player in the tournament.


Oman’s head of delegation Salim al Sinani said that this participation in the international event concluded with a thrilling accomplishment for the national team. “Attending this championship is a crucial step for the team to continue in their development plan towards better achievements in near future. We managed to get bronze medal among top teams which took part in this championship. In spite of the team’s long absence, the players managed to record this achievement at this event. Taking part in this edition of the championship will help players gain more experience and get to know the level of competitions,” he added.


As apart of the event, Oman's delegation signed an agreement with International Sepak takraw Federation (ISTAF) to establish a training centre of sepak takraw in Muscat.


“After a series of meetings with the officials of the ISTAF, we have agreed to establish a Middle East Centre for sepak takraw in Muscat. Launching of this training centre in the capital city of Oman will assist in spreading this sport in the Sultanate of Oman and GCC countries. Oman Sepak takraw, Kabaddi and Woodball Committee is very keen to provide such training opportunity for all interested people. A special thanks for the ISTAF officials for approving the opening of training centre in Muscat. We will begin the process of opening the centre during the coming period after obtaining required licences from the entities concerned,” Al Sinani ended.


The agreement was signed by Salim al Sinani from Oman’s delegation, while Dato Abdul Halim, Secretary-General, signed on behalf of ISTAF.
