Shabab al Hafri clinches elite league football title

Shabab al Hafri clinched the title of the Al Raed elite league of Al Shabab Club in Barka after defeating Shabab al Miragh team in penalty as the match ended in a 1-1 at full-time. In a thrilling final attended by thousands of fans, both teams showed top performance which reflected their competence to play the final game.


The first half finished in a goalless draw with a series of missed scoring attempts. Both goals were scored in the second half. Shabab al Miragh took the lead through Mahmood al Balushi who managed to register the opening goal in the match after a perfect assist from his team-mate Jaweed al Balushi.


The opponent Shabab al Hafri pressed hard with an aim of equalising the result and bringing the match into the origin position. As the match was approaching towards end and after several opportunities, Asad al Mabsali netted the equaliser in the dying minutes to revive his team’s chances to compete for the title. Later, both teams went to penalties and Shabab al Hafri saved one of the Shabab al Miragh’s penalties to deliver the team the title. Al Sawadi claimed the third place award.


HH Sayyid Malik bin Shihab bin Tarik al Said, board member of Seeb Club, was the chief guest for the final in presence of Ahmed bin Abdullah al Owaisi, Chairman of Al Shabab Club. After the completion of the final match, the chief guest gave away the trophies and medals to Shabab al Hafri and Shabab al Miragh players.


Issa al Hadi from Shabab al Shati was named as the best player in the tournament. The goalie of Shabab al Hafri, Younis al Owaisi became the best goalkeeper of the event. Monais al Naabi from Al Mazraa grabbed the top-scorer prize. At the end of the awards ceremony, Ahmed al Owaisi presented a memento to the chief guest.
