165 KM marathon distance to begin in Bidiya next January

The eighth edition of the Oman Desert Marathon will begin in January in this edition instead of November in Bidiya to keep pace with the development plans witnessed by this global race. The marathon consists of four stages with total length of 165 km. The stages are 47 km, 55 km, 42 km and 21 km.


Oman Desert Marathon is a desert race that has been held since 2013 in the Bidiya where seven previous editions were held. The 165 kilometre distance race will be held in four stages in one of the most picturesque deserts in the world and the tracks of each stage provide an opportunity for competitors to discover Oman rich in cultural and historical heritage. Beside that, the competitors will discover landscapes full of enchanting beauty while presenting a unique challenge for those wishing to Enjoying racing in the desert.


The Oman Desert Marathon has also presented stages of great beauty, splendour and scenic views, starting from the Al Wasil Oasis in Bidiya, which is deeply rooted in history with its fortress and castles, passing through the palm oases. Then the charming multi-coloured sand, and ending with the Jawharat Bidiah Resort. It offers participants a unique experience in one of the most popular and beautiful countries in the Arabian Peninsula.


The last edition of Bidiya Marathon was in 2019 and it was crowned by the brothers Rashid al Murabiti and Muhammad al Murabiti.
