MUSCAT: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) said that the authority has decided to close all tourist sites in the Sultanate of Oman until the end of the current weather condition affecting the country.

“Considering the weather condition that Oman is currently witnessing including heavy rains, overflowing of wadis and rough sea and also due to large number of reports of non-adherence to instructions, directives and warnings, the agency has decided to close all tourist destinations in the Sultanate of Oman until this weather condition ends,” the authority said in a statement.

CDAA urged everyone to abide by the warnings and the need to cooperate with the authority's officials and the parties concerned, and to abide by instructions intended to protect lives and maintain public safety.

Meanwhile, the Royal Oman Police and the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority in the Governorate of Dhofar, with the support of the Royal Air Force of Oman and the Coast Guard, continued their efforts to search for the missing Asian family of five members near Mughsayil Beach since Sunday as a result of the force of the waves as they crossed the safety barrier.

Maj Tariq bin Awad al Shanfari from the Department of Relations and Security Media at the Royal Oman Police, said that the police, with all their equipment, and with the support of Rafo have been combing the place to find the five missing persons, including 3 children and two women, despite strong waves the search is still going on.

He stressed that despite all these warnings, there is indifference, trespassing, and transgression of the barriers that were provided, whether on beaches or springs, which poses danger to rescuers.

He said that the ROP calls on all citizens and residents in the Dhofar to be careful while driving vehicles for their own safety, not to cross wadis, listen to warnings, and not to approach dangerous places. (With ONA inputs)
