Tragedies strike as heavy rains to continue till today

The number of tragedies during the current unstable weather condition has sent shock waves. The number of children involved in rain-related accidents are also high.

Rescue teams from the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority in South Al Sharqiya‬h Governorate responded to a report of drowning of three children in a wadi in the Wilayat of Ibra.

The children were rescued by citizens, two of them are in good health, and the ambulance teams belonging to the authority dealt with the third case and shifted the child to a hospital.


The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority reported that a family of eight fell in the sea after they crossed the fence at Al Mughsayl beach in Dhofar Governorate, three of them were rescued and emergency medical care was provided to them by the ambulance crew, while five of them were still missing at the time of writing of this report.

Rescue teams responded to a report of drowning of a 17-year-old in Wadi Al Hoqain in Al Rustaq, and he was rescued by citizens and transferred to a hospital but was declared brought dead.


Meanwhile, the rescue team in Dhofar Governorate found the body of a missing man in Wadi Darbat area.


The CDAA officials confirmed after verifying with the families of the missing persons and authorities, that a number of people were missing in Wadi Ahen in Suhar, and search operations are on to find the missing.


The authority has called on parents to monitor children and not allow them to swim in wadis, valleys and water bodies to protect them from dangers.


The amount of rain recorded in Jaalan Bani Bu Ali from July 5 to 10 was 173 mm.


Salim bin Mohammed al Kaf, Director of Operations Department at the Police Command of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, said that the Royal Oman Police dealt with reports from citizens stuck in a vehicle in a wadi, and rescued them with the help of CDAA and citizens to a safer place.
