Two infra contracts worth RO 85 million awarded

Leading contractors Galfar Engineering and Contracting SAOG and Al Hassan Engineering Company have announced that they have been awarded two key infrastructure contracts totalling around RO 85 million in value.


Galfar stated in a filing to the Capital Market Authority (CMA) that it has been awarded a contract worth around RO 73 million for the construction of the dual carriageway National Road Project (NR32) in Duqm. The client is the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ).


The 16 km road project, due for completion in 36 months, will begin in front of Duqm Refinery and run southwards towards the centre of Duqm. In addition to three lanes in either direction, the carriageway will also include four signalised junctions, one roundabout and three concrete bridges over wadis Sayy, Jurf and Dangert.


Earlier this week, Galfar won a contract from the Ministry of Defence for the dualisation of Phase 2 of Al Murtafaat Street at a cost of RO 16.145 million. The 16 km road, includes 8.30 km of dual carriageway featuring a total of six traffic lanes with three lanes in each direction. Also, as part of its scope, Galfar will construct 7.70 km of service roads, add three signalised junctions, two roundabouts and 17 major culverts in 18-months timeframe.


Meanwhile, publicly listed firm Al Hassan Engineering also announced that it has signed a contract with Oman LNG LLC for Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Performance testing of a New Sea Cooling Water Outfall Project at Oman LNG’s facility in Qalhat, Oman for 12.5 million The execution period will be 18.5 months
