Gulf Cup 25th venue to be confirmed today

Muscat: The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation will decide the fate of the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup, today in Qatar, which is presently scheduled to be held in Basra, Iraq, during the period from December 24 to January 7, 2023.


It is noteworthy that the tournament was postponed more than once in light of the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic, in addition to the continental competitions in the World Cup qualifiers, the Asian Cup and the Arab Cup.


The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation will decide whether to host the tournament in Basra or move it to Kuwait.


According to the last report of the delegation of the Gulf Cup Federation, which visited the city of Basra to see the stadiums and hotels, and identify the facilities and divide them according to the needs of the event (team hotels, VIPs, media, organising committees, referees).


The General Assembly of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation decided in 2021 unanimously to award the hosting rights of the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup to Iraq, and on September 20 last year the event was postponed to January 2023.
