14 football clubs to take part in domestic competitions

MUSCAT: As many as 14 footabll clubs confirmed their participation in the domestic competitions of 2020/2023 season.


The Oman Football Association (OFA) set Friday (June 24) as a deadline to receive the confirmation from the local clubs to take part in different domestic competitions including: His Majesty Football’s Cup championships, Top tier league represented by Omantel league, Soccer beach league, futsal league, first division league, U-17 league and U-20 league.


Defending champion, Seeb, Al Nahdha, Dhofar, Al Musannah, Al Nasr, Sohar, Al Rustaq, Al Suwaiq, Al Ittihad, Bahla, Oman club beside promoted clubs: Al Basaher, Al Oruba and Sur confirmed their taking part at coveted cup of His Majesty Football’s Cup championships and top tier league represented by Omantel league.


Seeb, Al Suwaiq, Sohar and Al Oruba clubs declared their participation in all the OFA domestic competitions for the new season 2022/2023. Bahla and Sur did not acknowledge their attendance at beach soccer league and futsal league while Al Nahdha did not confirm their presence at futsal league. Dhofar, Al Musannah, Al Nasr and Al Basaher did not show interest in taking part at Futsal league.


The relegated teams Muscat, Nizwa and Saham beside Al Mudhaibi, Al Shabab, Al Khabourah, Fanja, Ahli Sidab and Al Talia approved their attendance in the first division league. Muscat, Saham and Al Shabab confirmed their attendance in all the domestic competitions under organisation of OFA league union.


Al Wusta club, which established in 2013, regret from taking part in all the OFA domestic competitions.


Seeb claimed two titles in the previous season as they lifted HM Cup and won Omantel league title. Al Basaher club crowned as champion of first division league while Al Musannah claimed the beach soccer title. Jalaan club won U-17 league title while Nizwa captured the shield of U-19 league.
