Oman remain at 75th spot in Fifa world ranking

The world football governing body, Fifa, released the monthly men’s world ranking of the teams on Thursday.


The Oman national football team remained at the 75th place with 1,323 points. Oman’s position was ranked as ninth in Asia. Brazil are leading the podium with 1,837 points while Belgium reduced the gap with the leaders as they have 1,821. Argentina are third in the table with 1,770.


Asian heavyweights, Islamic Republic of Iran, led the Asian teams as they are placed at 23rd ( 1,558) despite dropping two spots from the last world ranking.


Japan were in the second position following Iran at 24th spot (1,552). Korea Republic made progress as they moved to 28th place (1,526).


Morocco was at the top of Arabian teams in the list as they are in 22nd place (1,558). Qatar team remained at the same position in 49th spot with (1,441) points.


OMAN FINISH PREP CAMP


Red Warriors wrapped up their overseas preparatory camp on June 12 in Doha city which featured two warm up fixtures against Nepal and New Zealand.


In the first friendly game, Oman had defeated Nepal 2-0 win on June 3. Omar al Malki and Issam al Subhi scored the goals of national team.


The 'Red Warriors' had ended their second preparatory match against New Zealand on a goalless draw on June 9 at Education City Stadium in Doha.


The 15 days camp was part of the team’s preparations for the forthcoming assignments at Arabian Gulf Cup in Basra city, and 2023 AFC Asian Cup.


Oman team will be in action again in August as they will gear up to take part in an international friendly tournament in Jordan in September.


The tournament will feature the participation of Oman, hosts Jordan, Iraq and Egypt teams. Another camp will be scheduled for the national team in November in Dubai city which will feature a strong friendly match against Serbia, who are a qualified team to the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022.
