Omani, Qatari Committee concludes 21st meeting in Doha

Doha: The Omani-Qatari Joint Committee concluded meetings of its 21st round at Doha.


The Omani side was headed by Sultan Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance whilst it was headed from the Qatari side by Ali Ahmed al Kawari, Minister of Finance of Qatar.


The committee reviewed during the two-day meeting aspects of cooperation between the two countries in many fields to serve the joint interests. It also discussed areas of economic and business cooperation and the latest developments related to the joint investments between the two countries. It also discussed coordination to sign cooperation agreements in areas of culture, sports, youth, SMEs development, transport, environment, education, higher education and tourism.


The committee also viewed experience of the State of Qatar to host the World Cup 2022, as well as the efforts made by the two countries to maximize benefit from this global event and its associating activities that serve tourism and economic sector.


Sultan al Habsi pointed out that the Omani-Qatari Joint Committee is pressing ahead in following up the efforts exerted to achieve the joint visions and aspirations of the two countries’ leaderships in many spheres. He added that the committee also reviews the progress made in the implementation of investment projects in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, as well as other projects in diverse economic fields.


On the sidelines of the meetings, a session of talks was held between Sultan Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance and Ali Ahmed al Kawari, Minister of Finance of Qatar. Views were shared during the session on issues of joint interest, as well as aspects of the bilateral cooperation in various fields.
