Met Office predicts more rains over al Hajar area

Muscat: Oman's Meteorology department on Wednesday said thundershowers with active downward winds are expected in the afternoon over al Hajar mountains and areas adjoining it.



"Based on the numerical models, scattered thunderstorms and active downward winds associated with cumulus clouds are expected over Al-Hajar Al-Awsat, Al-Hajar Al-Sharqi mountains, and desert areas from Al-Dakhiliyah and Al-Zahira," the weather office said in a statement.


Met also predicted partly cloudy skies with isolated rain along the coastal areas of Dhofar governorate and adjoining mountains with chance of isolated rain. Mainly clear skies over the rest of the governorates with chance of cloud development and isolated rain occasionally thundershowers associated with strong down draft wind over Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas toward afternoon and chance of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog patches over parts of Arabian Sea coasts.
