Muscat: Oman Meteorology Department on Thursday has issued an alert about the presence of extensive cumulus clouds, which will lead to thunderstorms accompanied by active to very fast downward winds over the areas of the Al Hajar Mountains and extending to the coastal areas of the Sea of ​​Oman, including the governorates of North and South al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah and parts of Al Dakhiliyah and parts of Muscat during the afternoon and into the night.


Apart from hailstorms, there is a possibility of heavy winds, a decrease in the level of horizontal visibility during thunderstorms, and flowing wadis.


Authorities urged commuters to exercise caution while travelling.
