Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), is hosting experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for meetings that will take place from June 5-12, 2022, in the context of preparing for Article IV consultations of the IMF Membership Agreement.

The IMF delegation will meet a number of officials from CBO, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, Oman Investment Authority, the National Center for Statistics and Information, as well as other entities. This visit aims at informing the IMF of the economic and financial situation of the Sultanate of Oman and providing them with the required data in preparation for the Article 4 consultations.

During the meetings, the IMF team will discuss a number of topics with officials and specialists related to the latest macroeconomic developments and its expected prospects, in addition to a number of topics related to financial and monetary policies and government measures as part of its Medium-Term Fiscal Plan, including the financial adjustment measures.

The IMF conducts such visits to follow up and implement its primary responsibilities to supervise the international monetary system, follow-up economic and financial policies in its 190 member states, and monitoring potential risks that could threaten financial stability. This allows the IMF to give appropriate recommendations on the monetary and fiscal policies in a way that enhances international financial and economic stability.
